ABOUT US

If you or your children are looking for a fun-filled opportunity to play or participate in soccer in Hudson, you have come to the right place.  For more than 20 years, the Hudson Soccer Association ("HSA") has sponsored soccer leagues for children and adults in Hudson.  Don’t fall for cheap imitations. HSA is the home of action-packed games, snazzy uniforms, well-organized leagues, and great opportunities to make new friends.

HSA is a not for profit organization that sponsors recreational and travel soccer programs for boys and girls who live in Hudson.  Last year more than

600 boys and girls participated in HSA's Saturday recreational soccer league, which is known as the Instructional and Recreational League ("the IRL"). Approximately 250 boys and girls participated last year on travel soccer teams sponsored by HSA. HSA's travel soccer program operates under the name Hudson United Soccer Club. HSA operates a referees program, in which it trains and pays Middle School and High School boys and girls to referee the IRL games. HSA also sponsors a Men’s League for adults whose children have participated in HSA’s soccer program. Hundreds of parents volunteer to coach and manage the IRL teams.

THE INSTRUCTIONAL AND RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

The IRL is a recreational soccer league of teams comprised of children who live in Hudson. The teams are coached by parents. The IRL season consists of four sessions of soccer. The IRL teams play seven games each session, and the games are played once a week on Saturdays. The first session begins in  August and is played outdoors. The other three sessions are played indoors between November and late April.  The IRL is divided into boys and girls divisions, and the children in each division are grouped by age. There currently are five divisions for boys and five divisions for girls.

THE MEN’S LEAGUE

HSA’s Men’s League is a recreational soccer league for men who live in Hudson.  Founded in the 1990s with “We have to go to work on Monday” as its motto, the Men’s League emphasizes fun and camaraderie over winning. The Men’s League historically has consisted of 4 teams that are formed in August and September. The teams begin play with a 7-game outdoor session in September, and play three 7-game indoor sessions at the NC Soccer Facility on Stow Road from November through April.

THE WOMEN’S LEAGUE

SOCCER 4 ALL

HSA’s Women’s League is a recreational soccer league for women who live in Hudson.  Founded in 2007 with a motto, “We have to go back to work as soon as the game is over,” the Women’s league is all about fun and friendship.   The Women’s League historically has consisted of 2 teams that are formed in August and play a 7-game outdoor session in August through October.  The league usually expands to 4 teams for indoor soccer and plays three 7-game indoor sessions at the NC Soccer Facility on Stow Road from November through April.

Soccer 4 All, HSA’s recreational soccer program for children with disabilities, debuted on May 17, 2008, at the Barlow Farm soccer fields.  Soccer 4 All stresses fun, friendship, and learning, and began with about 55 players that ranged in age from 4 to 18.  HSA pairs the players with “Buddies,”  Hudson Middle and High School students, who help ensure that  the players enjoy their experience.  The players are broken down into groups based on age, and the groups, along with the Buddies and adult coaches, practice skills and play games.  HSA anticipates that Soccer 4 All will consist of two outdoor sessions each fall, one in the spring and one in the fall.

THE REFEREES’ PROGRAM

HSA offers children in grades 7 through 12 the opportunity to serve as referees for games in the Instructional and Recreational league. HSA trains the referees to officiate the games, and to teach players the fundamentals of soccer.  The referees are paid for their services and they receive a gold referee’s jersey to wear during games.

HUDSON UNITED-TRAVEL SOCCER

Hudson United is the name of the Travel Soccer Program operated by the Hudson Soccer Association (“HSA”). Hudson United sponsors “travel” soccer teams for Hudson boys and girls who live primarily in Hudson.  Hudson United teams play in age groups ranging from U-8 to U-14. The teams play travel teams from other communities in the Greater Akron and Greater Cleveland areas. The teams are coached by licensed professional coaches who are experienced in working with children.  The Hudson United coaches emphasize fun and learning throughout the season.

Hudson United teams typically play five sessions of soccer, with each session consisting of seven or eight games. The first and last sessions are played outdoors. The first session is played between late August and late October, and the last session is played in April and May. Hudson United plays its outdoor home games at the Barlow Farms Park soccer fields, which are located across the street from Little Tikes on Barlow Road. Many of the indoor games are played at the NC Soccer facility in Hudson.

The teams usually have two practices and one game per week during the outdoor sessions, and one practice and one game per week during the indoor sessions. Hudson United teams play travel teams from other communities in the Greater Akron and Greater Cleveland areas.
