THE REFEREES’ PROGRAM

NOTE:  HSA is not accepting any new referees at this time

HSA offers children in grades 7 through 12 the opportunity to serve as referees for games in the Instructional and Recreational league.  HSA trains the referees to officiate the games, and to teach players the fundamentals of soccer.  The referees are paid for their services and they receive a gold referee’s jersey to wear during games.

Last season, approximately 70 boys and girls served as referees.  HSA encourages all referees to become licensed and frequently sponsors or helps pay the fees for referee clinics.

HSA’s Referee Assignor and Coordinator is Bryce McCoy, an experienced referee who is a student at Hudson High School.  If you would like more information about the Referees’ Program, please e-mail Bryce at laxkeeper03@gmx.com or call 330-653-8297.

Priority will be given to referees who have worked with us in the past and certified referees.

Referees are encouraged to teach young players the fundamentals of soccer.  Here, a referee teaches a First Grade girl the proper technique for “throwing in” a ball.
